Six Ideas For Outdoor Living Spaces

Date:

It’s finally time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful summer weather!

What better way to celebrate the changing of seasons than sprucing up your outdoor spaces. Whether you're interested in entertaining or relaxing, there are so many creative ways to transform your outdoor space. Check out some of our ideas!

Clear the Clutter

Rethink the yard by clearing out the clutter, pruning overgrown trees and hedges, relocating play equipment or donating it if your kids are growing too old for slides and swings. Get rid of anything that doesn’t belong in your yard. You can purchase outdoor storage containers for anything you want out of sight. A clutter free outdoor space is a happy space!

Design a More Inviting Patio or Deck

A slab of concrete with plastic chairs and a charcoal grill just won’t cut it. Create a space that feels like a private outdoor oasis. Make your patio a place where you would want to spend time, perhaps relaxing in the sun, practicing yoga, reading or hanging out with friends. Add comfortable seating, pillows, blankets, flowers and lanterns to make the space extra cozy!

Make A Firepit

Did someone say smores? Adding a brick fire pit to your outdoor living space can create the cozy atmosphere you’ve been yearning for. Not only are fire pits perfect for entertaining friends and family, but they’re relatively cheap to make! You can easily create a DIY fire pit for your backyard in a few steps with some supplies you can pick up curbside at your local home improvement store.

Don’t forget to pick up some graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate to have the complete campfire experience!

Create A Reading Spot

Do you consider yourself to be a bookworm?

Now that the weather is getting warmer, it's only fitting to create a great outdoor reading spot! If you have a little nook on your patio or deck, get a couple of pillows and set up a comfortable spot for yourself. You could also string up some lights and put plants around you for an inviting spot to read in.

Outdoor Dining

Eating outdoors provides friends and family with a unique environment that is pleasing to many. While it’s not an exact science, food just seems to taste better outside, partially because of the association with barbeque. Combined with fresh air, the hopefully moderate temperatures and just the right level of sunshine, this creates a wonderful eating experience for you and your guests.

Create a Shed Getaway

Needing a little space or change of scenery from your home? What about turning your shed into a craft space, office, or little sanctuary for yourself? Spruce it up by painting it a bold color, attaching some shutters, adding some flower boxes, installing a stone path or even stringing up some lights to make it your new favorite hang-out spot!

This could be a great project for one of those days you are feeling creative, but want to put off those indoor tasks!

There are so many creative ways to get out of the house and enjoy your outdoor living spaces.  From throwing a big bonfire to creating a reading sanctuary, you will be sure to enjoy your backyard this summer. What idea are you going to try?
